Digital Science, Figshare and Springer Nature are proud to share The State of Open Data 2023.

Now in its eighth year, The State of Open Data is the longest-running longitudinal analysis of researchers' attitudes towards and experiences of open data. This year's report features opening remarks from Springer Nature's CPO, Harsh Jegadeesan, and Digital Science's CEO, Daniel Hook.

Over 6000 researchers responded globally and for the first time, this year we asked respondents about their experiences of using artificial intelligence (AI) to collect and share data.

Digital Science, Figshare and Springer Nature extend their thanks to Shift Insight, who collected the 2023 survey data and undertook the initial analysis, as well as our all-important respondents who provided us with unparalleled insights and enabled us to bring the survey findings to the wider research community.
